The American Trucking Associations' ATA Supply Chain Security and Loss Prevention Council has recognized ABF Freight, which includes trade show shipping among its flagship service lines, with the Excellence in Security Award for a record seventh time.
The award was presented during the ATA Safety and Security Awards Reception and Banquet on November 4 at the Clinton Presidential Center in Little Rock, Arkansas. ABF Freight has earned the Excellence in Security Award in 1989, 1993, 1998, 2003, 2009, 2011 and 2015.
"ABF Freight's industry-leading
safety and security programs keep our highways safe for our employees
and the motoring public. And, our security and cargo care give ABF
Freight customers a significant supply chain advantage," said ABF
Freight President Tim Thorne.
"We believe our customers deserve safe, secure and error-free service,
which comes from the training, experience and responsiveness of
dedicated and empowered ABF Freight employees."
The ABF Freight security program includes regional security managers strategically located throughout North America.
The security managers have law enforcement backgrounds and work closely
with ABF Freight management and local, state and federal authorities
and regulators.
"Keeping our employees and our
highways safe and secure, as well as, protecting our customers' freight
and our company assets, are ABF Freight priorities," said Sam Cates,
ABF Freight safety and security director.
"ABF Freight security
procedures and guidelines are formulated as a guide for all employees so
they have the knowledge to conform to ABF Freight security
requirements. This has positioned ABF Freight as the premier carrier
when it comes to delivering shipments safely and securely."
The American Trucking Associations is the largest national trade association for the trucking industry.
